What an amazing read! I’ve been wanting and hoping to experience a story that would make me feel all the emotions—pull me in a story and make me live it along with them, especially the heroine. I’ve been wanting and hoping to experience a story that would make me feel all the emotions—pull me in a story and make me live it along with them, especially the heroine. What a journey I’d had, the one I will always remember and will always be with me. Ghost is the book three of the Boston Undercover series following Crow and Reaper written beautifully by A. Zavarelli and can be read as a complete standalone. As I said many times already, this series is one of my TOP FAVORITES. I’ve book binged it for the last two weeks and cannot still get over it. It reminds me of the reason why I love reading novels in the first place.

What is the story about?

This amazing story follows a young woman named Talia who is the best friend of Mack (the heroine in the first book). She dated a man she met in a bar she was working in who later sold her to a dangerous dealer. Having to endure the brutality every minute as whore whose life and dignity been ripped from her, she was hoping to die every day. Her only dream is to die. It is the only freedom she can think and dream of. Her only way out. There was nothing in her that wants to live. No hope whatsoever.

People die long before they ever make it to the grave. They die in little ways, every single day. Death can inhabit the body long before the soul ever leaves. In my case this is true. It is the only truth I know. And I am ready to embrace the death of this life with open arms. I am ready to fly. To find peace.

Alexei is one of the Italian mobsters. He is known for his intelligence, as the mastermind behind all the operation in Italian and Irish (their alliance) businesses. There is no one like him in the world which makes his position irreplaceable. He is known as a ghost because of his reputation and feared for it. When one of her friends asked for a help, a big help, that only he could do, he gave him his word. One look at the girl in the picture intrigued him beyond his understanding and made him do things which are out of his characters and made him push all his and the syndicate’s boundaries. How far can he go to save her?

My skills are unique. Forged over a lifetime of dedication and hard work. It is not talent. It is not luck. It is nothing less than perseverance that makes me the best at what I do.

What did I think about this story?

Only one word can describe my thoughts and feelings for this book… BEYOND AMAZING!

If I could meet the author I would hug and kiss her for creating beautiful, addicting stories in this series. The word “love’ cannot describe how I felt. I worshiped this series. The author did know how to write an emotional, heart-wrenching love story that is unconventional yet beautiful. Everything is perfect, from the slow-burn romance between the two broken souls to highly addictive action scenes full of mysteries and secrets that made me sat on the edge of my seat with my heart breathing hard. I could not put my iPad down for a minute. What a journey!

I had to go to hell to find the person I am today. And in the end, the road through hell led me straight to him.

The main characters are well maintained. I could feel all their emotions, understand their actions, and relate to them, which rarely happened to me in my reading experience. There was no single doubt in me that questioned why they did what they did. Their inner voices were incredibly written as the window to understanding the reasoning behind their actions as well as thoughts and why they became the way they were now. Even though it was hard to accept at times, I got why it happened. There were no moments where I felt it shouldn’t have happened. There were reasons behind. The reasons that made me connect with them as individuals and a couple at a deeper level. From the moment they met each other broken soul to the moment they let a hope shining through their heart, I was mesmerized and moved beyond beliefs.

“You’re such a fucking hypocrite. A selfish asshole.”
She tries to get up. To leave me. But I hold her in place. My own anger coming out to play.
“Yes, and you are a psychotic bitch.”
She tries to yank herself away, but again I don’t let her. I grip her chin in my hands and force her to kiss me.
“But you’re my psychotic bitch,” I murmur against her. “And I am your selfish asshole.”

Their sexy scenes were thoughtfully created. The dialogs were full of feels that made me swoon and sob at times. You could not deny the emotions behind the actions. While they were sexy (of course), they were more than that. They were special—as a way to build trust and learn to get to know each other. Miss Zavarelli knows how to write a sexy scene and made the reader felt the reason and emotions behind it.

“Do you feel that?” I ask her.
My heart beats beneath her palm, my chest expanding with every breath. She feels it like a child, with soft fingers that flutter over my skin in the same rhythm.
“As long as there is breath in me, as long as my heart beats, I will protect you, Solnyshko. You will remain by my side for all the days of my life. And even after my death, you will have others watching out for you. This, I can assure you.”

The actions and mysteries were dangerously addictive. There were no dull moments felt as fillers to add more drama which usually bored me. Everything was connected and a buildup to the climax that would come as the center of the story. Romance and actions were intertwined, fully connected to deliver a beautiful story about love that came out of traumatic events in an unconventional world. They all were supported by incredible side characters that were unique in their own ways. Each of them deserved their own books. I fell in love with most of them and hoped to read their stories soon.

All in all, Miss Zavarelli knows how to write a romantic suspense book with unconventional circumstances (the ones some readers might find offensive) and made us connect to it. A genius skill very few authors possess in my opinion, based on my reading experience so far. It seems to me that she does a thorough, extensive research before writing a story. In this case, how people with traumatic pasts deal with their inner demons and try to move on and how a mob world works. Everything she writes is rich and feels real. I believe everything in each story I’ve read by her so far. What a brilliant author.

You can’t force people to change. To cope with everything the way that you do. People are different. They all deal with things differently. You need to understand that.

I highly recommend this book to those who love alpha males, mobsters, and slow-burn romance. Even though you can read this as standalone, I suggest you read them in order. Trust me, they are all AWESOME!

There is nothing without you. Tomorrow, I take you home. And I will make you mine all over again. Every day, for the rest of my life, Solnyshko. That is my promise to you. I will make you fall in love with me every day for a lifetime.
