Guys, I have another favorite I could not wait to share about. It is awesome and I loved it so much. How could I not read it sooner is a mystery to me. For those of you who have read The Knocked Up Plan by Lauren Blakely must have known why I fell head over heels in love with this awesome standalone book. Before I elaborate further, I want you to know what the story is about.

Be bold. Ask for what you want. You never know – you just might get it. You might get it really good.

It follows a love and relationship expert named Nicole who has a lifelong dream to have a kid. She has always loved babies and wanted to have one on her own. However, after years of unsuccessful relationships, she realized that she is not capable of being in love with any man, no matter how perfect they are. Therefore, her chances to find the right man to marry were impossible. Being an independent, strong woman she is, she decided to become a single parent and started to find different options to have a baby. After thinking through each of the options, the craziest idea came across her mind and it involved her coworker, Ryder Lockhart, a perfect man in her eyes.

Ryder Lockhart is a smart, charming, handsome, recently divorced man. Despite his successful career as a love and relationship expert, the divorce has turned him to be a cynical man, which is a total opposite of what he lets people know about him. Burned by his failed marriage, he now doesn’t believe in love, serious relationships, or marriage and has sworn to never let himself fall in love again. When a co-worker, the woman he secretly admires and respects, asks for a huge help, he finds himself have the most difficult decision he has to make; the decision that will affect his life forever.

What did I think about the story?

I fell in love with the main characters. They felt real and believable. I totally understood why they chose to do what they did and why they thought that way. Their inner voices captivated me and made me connect with them.

  • If you love a strong, sassy heroine, you would fall in love with Nicole. She is a fantastic character that I found flawless. She knows what she wants, and is not afraid to pursue her dreams. She accepts herself and didn’t let the things that she thought as flaws in her life make her bitter and prevent her from doing what she wants. She is the epitome of a CONFIDENT WOMAN.
  • Whereas Ryder is the kind of hero that you would admire. Despite his cynical thoughts towards everything relating to romance and love, he is still the guy that most people could rely on. He is a great friend, an awesome uncle to his niece, and a swooned worthy guy without him even trying to be. He is effortlessly charming, relatable yet vulnerable at the same time.

The combination of the storyline and the slow-burned romance was AWESOME. The unique storyline combined with the amazing slow-burned romance made the whole story refreshing and unputdownable. Everything happened as it should have been and I believed each scene as if it was happening right in front of my eyes. The storyline itself was something we wouldn’t have thought could happen in real life but the way Lauren Blakely wrote it made me feel otherwise. The whole thing, including their relationship, felt both real and imaginative and progressed nicely. It gave me the time to connect with them as a couple.

This woman is everything I want, and everything I don’t want to lose again.

There were a lot of sexy times in this book which might be a turn-off for some readers. I hope it will not dissuade you from giving this book a try since they were part of the whole story which helped to show the progress of their relationship. Their emotional chemistry actually gradually built up during those moments.

I’m not just in love with the baby – I’m in love with the woman. Mad, passionate, she’s-the-one love.

The humor and the emotional moments were both remarkable. Prepare yourself to laugh out loud! It was hilarious yet had the moments that would threaten to make you sob. I first honestly thought this story would be a sweet, light romance which would make me laugh and feel good at the end, but I didn’t prepare with the emotional aspects it would bring. It was not a tear-jerking kind of books but enough to move you emotionally. I was happy with the way the whole story turned out to be and the way it made me feel at the end.

The side characters were awesome. I enjoyed the banters, the support they gave to one another, and the touches of humor. Each of them was so fun to read and I hope we will read each of their stories in the future. They all made the whole story interesting and inspiring; the one you wouldn’t want to miss.

The only thing that I wished could have been a little bit better was the efforts the hero was showing. I would have liked to see him do more to show how much he cared for her, especially during her struggles with the early pregnancy. It was just my little nitpick since I had a very high standard for my book heroes. However, the ending did make it up and left me fully satisfied.

Overall, The Knocked Up Plan is a fantastic, well-written slow-burned romance with a unique storyline. I wholeheartedly recommend this book for those who long for a different kind of book that will make you laugh and emotionally moved.

And that’s how you love a woman. With your whole heart.

  1. Lauren Blakely is on my authors I need to try list, and this one sounds like a great place to start! I love sassy, confident main characters so I think I would love Nicole. Plus Ryder sounds like a great hero. Great review! 🙂

  2. oh I have such a weakness for slow burn romances and this author has been on my lists for quite some time now. I think I definitely will be grabbing this one up.

  3. I have yet to read a Blakely book but I’m a huge fan of hers – is that weird? She is such a cool person and a very successful author. I think I have a few of her Entangled Brazen novels that I will try eventually. This particular romance novel wouldn’t usually be my thing since I don’t prefer kids/babies involved in romances, but I have a feeling Blakely would convince me otherwise. I’m so glad you enjoyed this book, Geybie!

    Have a fantastic week. =)
