I enjoyed the first half of this book. It was funny that I couldn’t stop laughing. I even highlighted lots of their funny interactions including email exchanges that I loved.

So, what is the story about? The story follows the life of an executive assistant, Mya London, who worked for a top publishing company, where the CEO was irresistibly handsome, Michael Leighton. However, she didn’t enjoy her work because of how he treated her. He was very demanding and arrogant. That is why she eventually sent an email, one of many, to her best friend to address her feeling of her job and her boss. 😉

Have I already told you that I hate my boss today? Sexy as hell or not, this pompous, arrogant, ASSHOLE asked me to pick up his dry cleaning the second I walked through the door. Then he told me that I needed to take his Jaguar to a car wash that was ten miles outside of the city, but only after I needed to stand in a never-ending line to buy some type of limited, hundred-dollar watch.

I honestly can’t wait to see the look on his face two months from now when I tell him that I’m quitting his company and that he can kiss my ass. KISS. MY. ASS. All those former fantasies about him kissing me with his “mouth of perfection” or bending me over my desk and filling me with his cock are long over. OVER.

Your bestie,

To her surprise, her latest email was not sent to her best friend but, instead, to her boss. So, he replied. It was my most favorite of this story. I was really hooked. Haha 😉

No, you haven’t already told me that you hate your boss today, but seeing as though you’ve sent me this email directly, I know now… Yes, I did ask you to pick up my dry cleaning the second you arrived to work today. (Where is it?) And I did tell you to take my Jaguar to the car wash and pick up my thousand-dollar watch. (Thank you for taking five hours to do something that could be accomplished in two.) You don’t have to wait two months from now to see the look on my face when you tell me you’re quitting. I’m standing outside your office at this very moment. (Open the door)

No comment on your “fantasies,” although I highly doubt they’re “long over.”

Your boss,

PS–Yes. My day is definitely going far better than yours…

Her reaction after she read his email was PRICELESS. She was panicked and terrified. She didn’t know what to do. I could relate to her. I had to stop to laugh for a minute or two before continue reading. At this point, it was everything that I’d expected and the author portrayed it brilliantly. I couldn’t put it down. I was one hundred percent into this story despite some flaws in editing process here and there.

However, once their relationship became physically and emotionally deeper, I lost the interest. I lost something that made me want to keep reading. Something was missing with the way they interacted with each other. Everything was felt too rush and too sudden. I was not feeling the emotional connection between the main characters. I was hoping something more, like, what they were feeling at that moment, what they were thinking, just something to make me connect with them. I didn’t get it. It was just like a conversation after conversation without emotion where the physical attraction was the main focus. It eventually made me put it down for a while and tried another story. I got back to it after a few days to finish.

This is a novella, so it is a short story. I understand that it needs to be kept short but I was hoping something deeper in their conversation and in what they were thinking and feeling at the moment, which unfortunately was not there. Or at least not something that I could connect with.
