When the author said “this is not for everyone,” I knew right away that this book was for me. I love books that will push my boundaries, drag me out of my comfort zone, and put me in a new level of intense book love. This book really did it to me. However, since it contains taboo and forbidden topics, it is NOT FOR EVERYONE. If you are sensitive to violence, rape, torture, abuse, blood and murder, please, don’t read this book. However, if you are open to the highly sensitive issues above, you can read the following.

This story follows a newly married woman named Gianna Nicotera who has just married the love of her life, Toni. In their way on to the airport after the wedding, a group of men kill her husband and kidnap her. Her life then changes drastically in front her eyes.

“I can’t even cry anymore. I don’t cry at night, but I wish I could. It’s like I’ve been drained of all emotions.”

The day she thought would be the best day in her life turned to be a nightmare in a blink of her eyes. Without a time to grieve, she is then forced to learn how to survive and learn it the hard way since the only way for her to keep alive is to surrender herself to the man who kills her husband. Full of hatred and anger, she sets up a plan to fight for her freedom.

“The boss thinks he’s safe, but he’s far from it. I have accepted, but that doesn’t make him a winner. I will own that man. I will make him do things for me he never thought he would do for a woman. And as soon as he’s comfortable—as soon as I see he has fallen for me—I will end him. The most wanted man in the world will be dead. I will be free. And he will be nothing.”

Draco Molina is the most dangerous and wanted man in the world. With power, respect and money, he is feared by his enemies and those who are close to him, including his mother. He is the man without mercy to those who betray and disobey him. He runs his business and lives his life by his own rules and demands everyone to respect and obey.

“He punishes people in his own way for what he thinks is disobedience.”

What an addictive story! The fact that I devoured this book in one sitting and couldn’t get to sleep after I finished it speak volumes about how amazing Shanora Williams is as a storyteller.

The author succeeded in creating interesting, dynamic characters. As a daughter of a mob boss who married a mob boss, Gianna was a strong, brave, smart and resilient woman. She stood up for herself even when she was in fear for her life. She was the kind of badass heroine that I loved. In the other hand, as an alpha, dangerous man, Draco was also successfully portrayed. His complicated and unpredictable behaviors kept me on the edge of my seat and had me swoon at the same time.

Moreover, the author also succeeded to mess with my mind with all the twists and secrets revealed throughout the story. I was like “WOW, I didn’t see it coming”, and “oh lord, this is too much,” but found myself unable to put my iPad down. My heart was beating faster with anticipation, excitement, and fear of what was going to happen as I turned the pages. There were no dull moments that tampted me to take a break, which was amazing. I was fully connected to the story from the first page to the last while questioning my own sanity. 😉

The only complaint I had was that this was a trilogy and book 3 did not have a publication date yet, so I had to wait for an indefinite, miserable period of time for it to be released, which was far from great. However, it still didn’t stop me from reading this book, which showed how addicted I was to this story. I would normally have waited until all the books in the series published before deciding to jump in.

The bottom line is, as I said in the beginning, this book is not for everyone. This is an anti-love story that is far from the conventional, morally accepted romances we normally read. But if you are a dark romance junkie like me who loves to experience a higher level of emotional roller coaster, this book is for you. 😀

    • Yes, it is a dark romance. It has heavy subjects that are not for everyone. Even I was struggling at times. 😀
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoy the book you’re reading right now.

Oh boy! Probably not a book for me but the cover is seriously amazing. I’m glad it hit all the good spots for you! Great review!

  2. Ohh – that cover is an interesting one! And I love that it’s NOT FOR EVERYONE. I want to try it and the quotes you shared have piqued my interest too. I don’t really normally read books like this and I have a feeling it will leave me completely emotionally up-heaved and not sure how to get back to normal – but that’s good sometimes!

  3. Wow that is one dark cover <3 I love it! Though I am a bit worried about all the darkness in the book! But I'm intrigued at the same time! Thinking I should add it to my TBR 🙂 Thanks for the wonderful review!

    • Thank you, Uma. 😀
It is darker than most of dark romance books I’ve read and I don’t recommend it to anyone. But if you love dark romances, I think you’re gonna love this. 😀
      Thanks for stopping by.

  5. Beware Of The Reader

Fantastic review! Too bad the third one is not out yet I know how it can be frustrating!

  6. Oh, wow. When you push your boundaries, you really push your boundaries! I have a weak stomach for torture and rape, so I don’t think I’m ready for this. Good on you, though!

  7. Cait @ Paper Fury
