Beautiful Disaster series by Jamie McGuire

Beautiful Disaster (Beautiful, #1)I first read this book three years ago, way before this blog. I fell over heels in love with Travis Maddox. Now, three years and countless of book boyfriends later, Travis still one of my greatest book lovers. In fact, imagining the story now again, thinking about him, I realize love him more. I’ve never thought it was possible to love a book character so much. By ‘so much’, I meant he has been one of my all time favorite characters. After reading Walking Disaster and A Beautiful Wedding, I love him even more.

About Book 1:

“And when a Maddox boy falls in love, he loves forever.”

The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand.

Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby wants—and needs—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

My favorite Quotes:

“You can’t tell me
what to do anymore, Travis! I don’t belong to you!”
In the second it took him to turn and face me, his
expression had contorted into anger. He stomped toward
me, planting his hands on the bed and leaning into my face.
“WELL I BELONG TO YOU!” The veins in his neck
bulged as he shouted, and I met his glare, refusing to even
flinch. He looked at my lips, panting. “I belong to you.”

“I’m not your anything,” I snapped, glaring up at him.
His eyebrows pulled in and he stopped dancing. “You’re my everything.”

Have I mentioned I love Travis? He was just TOO GOOD to be true. The worst of the worst boys that created a new meaning to the “bad boy” slogan. He was an ultimate BAD (worst) BOY. However, he was the most tender, loving, sensitive on the inside bad boy I’ve ever read.

“I know you deserve better than me. You think I don’t know that? But if there was any woman made for me…it’s you. I’ll do whatever I have to do, Pidge. Do you hear me? I’ll do anything.”

“It’s over. Go home.” His eyebrows pulled in. “You’re my home.”

“I’ll never love anyone the way I love you, Pigeon.”

Some of his actions might be considered “too much” by some readers, but it made him even more special.

“You said you’re done with me, and I accept that. I’m a different person since I met you. I’ve changed… for the better. But no matter how hard I try, I can’t seem to do right by you. We were friends first, Pigeon. I will always love you, but if I can’t make you happy, it doesn’t make much sense for me to try to get you back. I can’t imagine being with anyone else, but I’ll be happy as long as we’re friends.
“You want to be friends?” I asked, the words burning in my mouth. “I want you to be happy. Whatever that takes.”
