Sports Romance

Sports Romance or athlete heroes/heroines is one of my TOP favorite tropes and I am currently reading a great one that I cannot wait to share with you this week. My top favorites are limited even though I have read a lot of books on this theme. I hope you can recommend me your favorites. Please check out the other posts below if you haven’t yet.

My TOP favorites are:

The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by [Zapata, Mariana] Moonshot by [Torre, Alessandra] Kulti by [Zapata, Mariana] Wrecking Ball (Hard To Love #1) When I Need You by Lorelei James Most Valuable Playboy by Lauren Blakely The Deal (Off-Campus, #1) The Mistake (Off-Campus, #2) The Score (Off-Campus, #3) The Goal (Off-Campus, #4)  The Studying Hours (How to Date a Douchebag, #1) The Failing Hours (How to Date a Douchebag, #2) Learning Hours (How To Date A Douchebag #3) by Sara Ney Undecided by Julianna Keyes Bountiful by Sarina Bowen

What are your favorites?

Kozbisa at We Live and Breathe Books: I am a huge fan of the Cold Fury books by Sawyer Bennett, The Game On books by Kristin Callihan, The Rusk University books by Cora Carmack, The Gravity series by Sarina Bowen, End Game by Kate McCarthy, The Rugby books by Penny Reid and LH Cosway. I love sports romances!

Carolina Cold Fury Hockey series by Sawyer Bennett Game On Series by Kristen Callihan The Rusk University Series by Cora Carmack The Rugby books by Penny Reid The Gravity series by Sarina Bowen End Game by Kate McCarthy

Sophie at Beware of The Reader: Add The Hook Up to it as well as Sweet Home and you would have all my top sports romance books, Geybie! Oh and also Real from Katy Evans!

Game On Series by Kristen Callihan Sweet Home series by Tillie Cole Real by Katy Evans

Mallory at She is Bookish: I loved the Wall of Winnipeg and have been meaning to try-out Kulti. Ironically, I enjoy books about sports more than the sports themselves. Is that strange? 😉

I agree that Sawyer Bennett’s Cold Fury and Penny Reid/LHCosway’s Rugby series are great. Also, I love the Pucked series (hockey) by Helena Hunting and have recommended it to several friends. I also recently enjoyed “The Player” and “The Catch” by K. Bromberg and “The Baller” by Vi Keeland was also a great read as well.

Angie at Books and Beauty are My Bag: If you like Elle Kennedy, you should try HIM that was co-written with Sarina Bowen. That was a great book. But I wasn’t as big a fan of the second. And the same goes for the WAGs series, also written by them. I loved the first book in the series, the second not so much. Also, there was a series years ago I read called New York Blades, and it was written by Deirdre Martin. I loved it, and it also ticks off the alpha male box! I hope you find some great recs.

Him by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy Good Boy by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy New York Blades by Deirdre Martin

Alyssa Susanna at The Eater Of Books: Sports Romances… I feel like I could name one million and one. Let’s see:

New Adult: The Deal (Elle Kennedy) — that whole series; Undecided (Julianna Keyes) — technically the hero is a cross country track star so that counts.

Adult: Rookie Move (Sarina Bowen); Game for Marriage (Karen Erickson); Once Upon a Power Play (Jennifer Bonds); Caught (Clare James) — car racing is a sport… kinda… yeah, it technically is. 😀

Off the top of my head, that’s all I can think of for now. Helena Hunting has written some, but I’ve not read them. Great list, Geybie! Have a wonderful week.

The Deal (Off-Campus, #1) Undecided by Julianna Keyes Once Upon a Power Play by Jennifer Bonds Game for Marriage by Karen Erickson Caught by Clare James Rookie Move by Sarina Bowen

The Assassins series by Toni Aleo Bellevue Bullies Series by Toni Aleo Good Boy by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy Stay by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy Him series by Sarina Bowen Elle KennedyOff-Campus series by Elle Kennedy the Pucked series by Helena Hunting Brooklyn Bruisers series by Sarina Bowen Play-by-Play Series by Jaci Burton The Hashtag series by Cambria Hebert GearShark Series by Cambria Hebert Taking Shots Series by Cindi Madsen Game On Series by Kristen Callihan Scoring Wilder by R.S. Tanya at Girls Plus Books: I love a good sports romance and Sarina Bowen is my favorite. Love her writing and the guys in her sports romances are so swoony! I also love Cora Cormack’s Rusk University series and Elle Kennedy’s Off-Campus series.

The Rusk University Series by Cora Carmack Off-Campus series by Elle Kennedy

Kimberly at Caffeinated Book Reviewer: I am not a big sports romance person, but love Kate Meader’s Chicago Rebels story.

Chicago Rebels by Kate Meader

Renee at Addicted To Romance: Sports romances are fantastic!! I haven’t read too many of them unfortunately so these will help me out. Although some I have read. Here are my favorites I have read.

The Deal (Off-Campus, #1) The Score (Off-Campus, #3) The Hook Up by Kristen Callihan Real by Katy Evans No Limits by Lori Foster Rock Hard by Nalini Singh With Every Heartbeat by Linda Kage The Perfect Play by Jaci Burton Playing It Close by Kat Latham Flat Out Sexy by Erin McCarthy Back In The Game by Lori Wilde All Of Me by Jennifer Bernard Against The Rope by Sarah Castille Worth The Fight by Vi Keeland All Lined Up by Cora Carmack

Sophia Rose at Delighted Reader: I am definitely a fan of the sports romances. Looks like you and the others covered many that I’ve read. I’ve read a few of Jaci Burton’s Play by Play series and they were enjoyable, Ruthie Knox’s Ride With Me (cycling), Erin McCarthy’s Fast Track series (auto racing), Michele Mannon’s Worth the Fight trilogy (MMA/Boxing), Rhonda Shaw’s The Change-Up and The Ace (baseball), Jennifer Bernard’s baseball series, Kate Willoughby’s In the Zone series (hockey), Kat Lathan’s London Legends series (rugby), Nyrae Dawn’s Rush, and I’m sure there are a few more, but they aren’t coming to mind.

Kristen at Metaphors And Moonlight: I have read a total of one sports romance in my life since it’s not my usual genre, but I enjoyed that one! It was These Battered Hands by Laurel Ulen Curtis. From what I can see, it might be the first gymnastics one on your list!

These Battered Hands by Laurel Curtis

Lexxie at (Un)Conventional Bookviews: You already have a LOT of great recommendations here, Geybie, but I still found a few more that I have really enjoyed.

There is just a thing about sports romances, those tough guys (or gals) getting all emotional.

The New York Saints series by Melanie Scott A Bannister Brothers series by Jennie Marts Bad Boys of Baseball series by Katie Rose Bossed by Sloane Howell Hard To Hold by Katie Rose His Convenient Husband by Robin Covington Tempting Tempo by Michelle Mankin The Long Pass Chronicles series by Tara Lain

I’m a fulltime reader who can’t live without books. In addition to books, I love animals, music, and dance shows. I hope you find your next read through my reviews and lists of recommendations. You can recommend me your favorites as well in my “Recommend Me Books” posts or check them out for awesome recommendations.

  11. I read a lot of m/m romance and I really like the sports romances in those. I just read one called Off the Ice, and it dealt with hockey. LOVED it and I can’t wait for more. I see Him and Us were mentioned a few times on here – yay! Love those two. I also really want to read Santino Hassell’s football books!

    -Lauren

    • Thank you, Lauren. Oh, Off The Ice sounds great. I’ll add it to the post. Yay same here. I want to try Santino Hassell’s books. They’ve got lots of great reviews. I’m curious. 😁

    I hope you’re having a great week <3 <3 <3

  13. One of my favourite ones is a YA with a running theme. Breathe Annie Breathe by Miranda Kenneally, actually all this series is great, and all sports themed. And Take Me On (Pushing the Limits #4)by Katie McGarry is another fab one with a kick boxing setting. Another running series is Pepped Up (Pepper Jones #1) by Ali Dean, I’ve only read the first two books so far in the series but I really enjoyed them.
