WEEKLY RECAP - Geybie's Book Blog

Last week was one of the busiest weeks I’ve ever had. I spent all my free time doing some blog stuff. As some of you might know, I changed my domain website a little more than a week ago (read the story here) and have been doing some changes around the blog. I never thought it would be this time-consuming! I also had to delete all the pins on my Pinterest and repin again, which was SO exhausting. There are a lot of things need to be fixed but I’m glad that the major ones have been handled and at least the blog is running smoothly right now.

I’m still working exclusively on some of the broken links, so please be patient if you find some around the blog. Hopefully, everything will be back 100% to normal this week. Fingers-crossed! πŸ™‚

Despite the blog issues and maintenance, I did have a great week, reading-wise. I got a lot of book recommendations from fellow book bloggers and couldn’t be more grateful. Thank you so much! I cannot survive this long without your love and support.

Last week on the blog:

  1. I’ve read Misconduct and I really enjoyed it!
Oh, I know a thing or two about how time consuming managing a ‘new’ blog is! When I purchased the hosting and domain name for Mind Reader 2.0, I spent two WHOLE weeks setting everything up, as I was new to WordPress, so I had to add that into account as well. Plus, pre-planning, writing and scheduling all the content that you are seeing now. But I agree, it’s a wonderful feeling when you have everything all finished, isn’t it?

Blogging is SO time- consuming- especially when something goes wrong! And the re- pinning sounds like a pain too. Hope the worst is behind! Oh and I’m loving the Recommend Me posts, because I’ve gotten a ton of ideas myself from them.

  3. All the technical issues sounds maddening but it looks great! I’m hate technical issues with a passion and am not sure I would have had the willpower to repin all my pins! I love your recommendations posts. I need to go check out your romantic suspense one especially. I’m in the mood for some but could use some new to me authors. Have a great week!

    • Having self hosted site needs lots of skills from the blogger. I hadn’t had any problem before. This is my first. Glad that everything’s starting to get back to normal.

  4. Changing the domain name – or even just switching hosts, really – is exhausting! I’m glad you’re almost finished with fixing everything up, Geybie!
I love your ‘recommend me’ posts πŸ™‚ Even if I do go a bit overboard every time πŸ˜‰
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

  5. I am new too in this blogging genre. It’s about two months old and still I feel all the time that Inhave a lot of things to be still done. It’s really hard to manage it with my full time 9 hours a day job.

  6. Oh my gosh, so sorry about you having to repin. Changing ANYTHING related to your website can just be so… ugh. I hope you can sort it out soon!

  7. Blogging can take up a lot of time, I hope the rest of your fixes go smoothly, that sounded like a lot of work.
I have a full time job, kids and a business so blogging always comes last and seems to take the most time. πŸ™‚ It will be a better balance now that the kids are in school.
I haven’t checked out your recommendations, I will do that as I catch up because I can always us recommendations myself πŸ™‚

Have a great week, Geybie! Happy Reading! ox

    • OMG, you’re a super woman. I haven’t had kids yet but I can imagine how hard it is for you to read plus blog among other things. πŸ‘πŸ»β€οΈ
I hope everything is going great in your life. Have a wonderful week. 😁

  8. Sorry to hear about all the fixes you’ve been having to do. It’s always the worst when a big change chases all those small type problems, but that’s great that it seems to be working it’s way out. I enjoyed Latte Girl so I hope you like it as well. We Own Tonight has been on my wish list so I’ll be curious to hear your thoughts on it. I’ve currently hesitating between buying/not buying it so hopefully I’ll be able to decide πŸ™‚ Have a great week, Geybie!

  9. I am curious to see the recs you get for Dark Romance. I have enjoyed a few in the past, but I am not really into the super dark stuff! So, I am always looking for recs!
The blogging stuff can be so time consuming. But, once its done it will feel so much better!
    Have an amazing week!

  10. I can imagine how busy your week must have been with you changing your domain over, but I hope there’s not that much left for you to do, I’ve always considered moving to WordPress, but constantly think about I’d have to relearn again! I hope you have a great week!

  11. Beware Of The Reader

Sorry to hear allthe problems Geybie but yes it can be time consuming! Hopefully you’re out of the wood now πŸ˜‰

  12. I have been spending most of my free time on my blog as well. I can’t even imagine changing domain names. I feel like I have enough to do with the one I have! I am glad it’s working out for you though and am sure everything will be just as you want it soon! I hope you have a great week!

  13. It’s amazing how much time it takes time to do blog maintenance. Hopefully you will have it up and running again soon.

    • That’s one of my regrets. I didn’t, Kim. 😩😭 there has been a lot of changes happening on the blog so I need to start from scratch. It’s ok though. My blog is just a few months old. I’m glad it happened early, when it is not a year yet.

  14. carolesrandomlife

Sometimes blog maintenance can be a real pain. It just takes so much time. I hope you have a great week and enjoy your new books!

    • Oh it’s been so exhausting. If you can avoid it, I suggest you don’t make any changes on your own or hire a professional to help you do it. It is so stressful. πŸ™ˆ

    • I haven’t done any repin, Jen. I need a day off to do that. I had almost 2000 pins before, so it will take time to repin. Anyway, I need to check whether I’ve followed you or not. 😁❀️

  15. Yes, blogging can take up so much time. I know all about those updates. They have a plug in called Broken Link Checker that will tell which link s on your site are not working. Maybe you already have that and are snowed up by the sheer number you have to check. Don’t worry, this too will pass. Have a great week!

  16. Glad the blog work is settling in. It is hard to keep up sometimes. I have some recommendations I need to get back to your posts. Maybe this week.
Ghosted sounds very good. Happy Reading!

It was SO stressful and exhausting, Anna. The beauty of having a self-hosted site. πŸ™

I’m glad to hear that things with your blog are looking up. I’m sure it’s been stressful.

    • Geybie's Book Blog

It turned out the problem didn’t end. My site was down for three days. It was one the most stressful three days of my life. πŸ™
